GeoSNO
GeoSNO is a geographically distributed and economically self-sustainable Storj node operations venture, with currently over 154 TB of storage capacity. Storj nodes power the Storj DCS platform (formerly branded as Tardigrade), a highly decentralized S3-compatible cloud storage solution. Unlike traditional cloud storage, on Storj DCS, files are encrypted, split into smaller pieces, and distributed on a massive global network of decentralized nodes which is why it’s fast, reliable and insanely secure. GeoSNO believes that distributed systems are democratic and thus fostering for our society, contrary to having only a few centralized providers. Accordingly, GeoSNO's mission is to support the Storj DCS network, but strictly in an economically self-sustainable way. In other words, the overall operational costs are targeted to be lower than or equal to the earned Storj tokens. And surplus earnings are to be used for spawning additional nodes.
GeoSNO achieves economical self-sustainability through the use of custom engineered low-cost and low-power servers paired with high-density hard disk drives. Likewise, the hardware are hosted at ISP peering sites (data centers) that offer low-cost colocation pricing and reliable high-speed Internet. Here's to the future of cloud storage 🥂
